It’s been a year since I got a surprise medical diagnosis last August. Initially, my irritated, main takeaway from the news was that this condition was common to people with my “type of personality.” WTF? It can be hereditary, but it also is most common in people who struggle with anxiety, jaw pain (TMJ), and nervous system issues. Much to my chagrin, all these things are true for me. Fantastic.
I was given a large packet of paperwork describing the treatments, diets, supplements, and medications. It was overwhelming. I had no idea how to do it all and manage the symptoms. It was all too new and too much, and admittedly, I spent the first few months in a bit of denial.
